چکیده

This article provides information about the sizing and standardization of a Faraday cup (FC) used as plasma diagnostic. instrument is to accurately map ion beam profile produced by an electric propulsion (EP) device. A FC cylindrical probe that uses electrode, termed collector, measure current. Several studies have shown relevance adding extra called collimator, define collection area minimize interactions with ambient plasma. Both electrodes are encapsulated into isolated metallic housing prevents from disturbing measurements. In this case study, field-emission-electric (FEEP) thruster used. The FEEP technology electrostatic fields extract liquid metal (indium) ions sharp surface accelerates them high velocities, providing thrust. model in study ENPULSION NANO Austrian company Enpulsion. We present results focusing on terms length, aperture diameter, solid angle well material exposure beam. For far-field indium based thruster, our outcomes show optimum 50 mm long collector 7 wide inlet aperture. Moreover, shielding repeller/collimator direct seems greatly perturbation during current acquisition. Finally, only current, negative potential should be applied repeller, where latter more negative. contributes effort diagnostic for EP device characterization. goal enable repetitive reliable determination parameters performances.

Microspike Based Chemical/Electric Thruster Concept for Versatile Nanosat Propulsion

Small spacecraft that can be categorized as microsats, nanosats, and picosats has a strong potential for wide applications in communication, scientific experiments, and space exploration. In order to combine the advantages of both electric and chemical propulsion thrusters, a dual-mode microspike based thruster concept is proposed. For a fixed input power, it can operate in either a high-Isp mo...

Simulation of Electric Propulsion Thrusters

Electric propulsion thrusters are replacing small chemical thrusters used for spacecraft control and orbital maneuvers. These thrusters use a variety of mechanisms to convert electrical power into thrust and in general provide superior specific impulse in comparison to chemical systems. Electric propulsion has been under development for the last fifty years, and almost all thrusters are designe...

Modelling Electric Propulsion Plume Interactions

Electric propulsion is currently being planned for use on several future deep space missions. It has long been recognized that the exhaust plume from an electric thruster can induce a complex set of plasma interaction and hence both science and engineering concerns have been raised. This paper first presents an overview of our current understanding of electric propulsion plume interactions and ...
